New Laws Effective January 1, 2010
The following legislation will take effect beginning Jan. 1, 2010.

Do I need liability insurance on a mental health retreat centre, or can I have them sign a waiver?
If they sign a waiver saying they will not sue us if something goes wrong in their emotions while they are staying here, will that protect us from prosecution in Canada? The centre we want to run will be run by peers, not professionals. We would charge them $40 a day, they could make use of our library of teaching products to assist them, as well as speak to peers who may have gone through a similar experience as they have. It would be a good break for people who need a few days to collect their thoughts and go back to their environment with a fresh perspective.
You need liability insurance. Those signed waivers are worth zero especially from individuals with mental health problems
